KU has become the first public university to adopt an "open access" policy that makes scholarly journal articles available for free online. Scholarly articles - the method by which a professor presents research - normally are available only through paid subscriptions.

Artist-in-residence Patrick Dougherty's latest large-scale tree-sapling sculpture, called "The Bedazzler," has been completed outside the Commons @ Spooner Hall on KU's campus. The work is expected to be on display for about two years.
