Directions to the Lawrence Campus

The city of Lawrence lies on a major east-west turnpike, Interstate 70. The west Lawrence I-70 exit provides the most direct route to the KU Campus. The east Lawrence exit leads into downtown Lawrence, which is northeast of campus. Lawrence has a bus terminal and a taxi service. KU on wheels, a local bus service, links the campus with downtown and most major apartment complexes.

Kansas City International Airport lies on I-29, about 22 miles north of downtown Kansas City. The airport is an hours drive (I-435 South, then I-70 West) to Lawrence. Refer to the KCI Airport website for the names and numbers of privately-operated airport shuttles.
Interstate 70 access update:  The Kansas Turnpike Authority has launched a $130 million project to replace the Interstate 70 bridges that cross the Kansas River at Lawrence. The project is expected to be finished by the end of 2011.  The West Lawrence interchange (exit 202) has reopened. The East Lawrence interchange (exit 204) has a temporary exit ramp now; the exit is scheduled to close in early 2010 for approximately eight months.
