Chancellor
The chancellor is the chief executive officer of the University of Kansas. The provost, who is an executive vice chancellor, is the chief academic officer; an executive vice chancellor directs the Medical Center; vice provosts and vice chancellors oversee student success, academic affairs, outreach, research and facilities management, among other divisions.
Administration

Office of the Chancellor

The chief executive officer of the University of Kansas is Chancellor Robert Hemenway, who oversees all campuses and reports to the Kansas Board of Regents. Branching out from the chancellor's office are separate administrative structures at the Lawrence and Medical Center campuses; those executive vice chancellors report to Chancellor Hemenway. Government Relations also reports to the chancellor.

Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, Lawrence Campus

On the Lawrence campus, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Richard Lariviere has a dual role as chief operations officer and chief academic officer. He oversees all academic, research and public service and the units that support those activities.

Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor, Medical Center

At the Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., Executive Vice Chancellor Barbara Atkinson is chief operating officer and also the executive dean of the School of Medicine.

Vice Chancellor and Dean, Edwards Campus

Robert M. Clark is vice chancellor and dean of the KU Edwards Campus, whose degree and certification programs serve the educational needs of working adults in metropolitan Kansas City.

Office of the General Counsel

James P. Pottorff Jr. is the University general counsel. His office on the Lawrence campus also serves the Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

University Communications

Director Lynn Bretz oversees KU's public relations, communications, and marketing efforts including the offices of University Relations and Kansas Public Radio.
Governance

University Governance, Lawrence Campus

The Lawrence campus has a unified system of governance for faculty, students and classified and unclassified professional staff. Each group has its own senate or board and elected members, and elected officers deal with issues specific to that group. Each group also participates, with voting rights, in the University Council; this policy-making body, overseen by an elected executive committee, has responsibility for academic policy and other campus issues.

University Governance, Medical Center

The Medical Center governing bodies are the Faculty Assembly and the Student Government Council. The Faculty Assembly, a joint body consisting of faculty from each school, is concerned with defining educational goals, objectives, programs and policies and planning and developing faculty and support for research.
